Mark Dempsey

Mark Christopher Dempsey, age 48, of Austin, peacefully passed away on Friday, February 27, 2009. He was born in Austin, Texas on February 13, 1961.

 

Mark attended McCallum High School and graduated from the University of Texas.

 

Throughout his life Mark loved music, history, genealogy and Austin. He was a talented guitarist, and a repository of information about his ancestors and U.S. history. His wonderful sense of humor and inner strength brought joy and inspiration to all who knew him.

 

Mark was preceded in death by his father Jack Dempsey and his dog Perseus. Mark will be greatly missed by those he left behind, including his two beloved dogs Draco and Nietzsche.

 

Mark is survived by his wife, Christine Hew, and his mother Estelle Dempsey, both of Austin, Texas, his sister Amy Dempsey, of St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands, father and mother-in-law Denton and Theresa Hew, sister-in-law Donna Hew, brother-in-law Denton Hew, Jr. of Houston and countless friends in Austin and elsewhere.

 

A memorial service to celebrate Mark's life was held Tuesday, March 3, 2009 in the Chapel of Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks, with an interment service following at the Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Memorial Park.
